Sardinia, Italy. May 4th - 8th, 2002
Welcome to the World
Society of Pain Clinician’s
bi-annual congress in
Sardinia, Italy.
Dear Colleagues and Friends, It is with great pleasure and pride that I anticipate welcoming
you to the 10th Biannual Congress of the World Society of Pain Clinicians, which is being held
in Sardinia, Italy. The pleasure in welcoming you is based on the fact that I know participants
will have a wonderful time there – with the dissemination of knowledge and dispensation of fellowship
in themselves already being great enough to make it worth your while to come to Sardinia. My pride
is based on the fact that the World Society of Pain Clinicians have continued to maintain a high
standard in the academic and scientific content of their congress – from its first congress in
Delft, the Netherlands to this upcoming one.
I feel particularly blessed to share this congress with you since this will be my last as President
of this organization. As you already know, the primary purpose of the World Society of Pain Clinicians
is the dissemination of knowledge and pain related medical information to the pain clinicians
of the world. Sardinia is an excellent venue for the sharing of the intellectual and academic
activities and lends itself to tremendous social and relaxation activities.
Dr. Giustino Varrassi and his crew are sparing no efforts in making this congress one of the
best ever. We hope that the fellowship of the attending pain clinicians will as usual continue
to be very warm, hospitable and positive as we interact together at this congress. In addition,
I feel it would be great for you and your family to take some time from your busy schedule to
visit the wonderful countryside in Southern Italy.
Once again, I would like to welcome you in May 2002 to the World Society of Pain Clinician’s
Congress in Sardinia and hope that your expectations will be fully met from all points of view.
Sincerely,
Winston C.V. Parris, M.D. FACPM
President, World Society of Pain Clinicians
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
As congress chairman, I am pleased to invite you to the 10th International Pain Clinic Congress
and Exhibition of the World Society of Pain Clinicians to be held in Sardinia, Italy, 04 – 08
May 2002. WSPC seeks to promote scientific exchange and education among pain clinicians. I am
proud that this meeting features a comprehensive scientific programme together with ample opportunities
for a presentation and discussion of the latest research and trends in the world of pain.
Keynote addresses from internationally renowned speakers – coupled with parallel sessions, symposia
and workshops – will play a key role in helping us achieve our educational objectives. There will
additionally be a significant trade exhibition supporting the congress in reaching its goals.
We have also developed an exciting social programme that will facilitate networking on an informal
level.
The Forte Village is the location for the 10th bi-annual WSPC Congress and Exhibition. With its
magnificent tropical gardens, five star hotels, gourmet restaurants and extensive sports and spa
facilities, it is an oasis of well being. The congress centre is at the heart of this resort and
borders one of the most beautiful bays in Europe. It is the perfect place to combine work with
pleasure.
I look forward to welcoming you to Sardinia in May 2002.
Giustino Varrassi
Congress Chairman
